Announcing VPIlinkConfigurator– Version 4.6
Streamlining Optical Network Engineering for High-Speed DWDM Transmission Lines
Berlin, Germany – VPIlinkConfigurator Version 4.6 is now available for immediate upgrade. As an all-in-one link engineering solution for analyzing performance and optimizing optical network planning, the latest release introduces powerful new tools that simplify high-bit-rate traffic configuration, streamline the design of large-scale flexgrid networks, and significantly enhance Quality of Transmission (QoT) assessment. These improvements account for transmission-aware impairments and support compliance with the OpenROADM Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) standard.
VPIlinkConfigurator Version 4.6 enhances optical network design, planning, and performance assessment through new modeling capabilities and Design Automation features, including:
-
Advanced QoT Assessment and Enhanced Receiver Estimation: The updated receiver estimation model predicts the required Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR) at the receiver while accounting for transmission-aware impairments, including accumulated Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL), and Received Optical Power (ROP).
-
Expanded Equipment Library: A new set of transceiver models based on OpenROADM specifications has been added to the exemplary equipment library. Users can now model 100G–800G transmission systems and incorporate transmission-aware penalties directly into QoT assessments.
-
Automated Optical Channel Configuration: The new Allocate Signal Rates tool automatically assigns the required number of optical channels to meet cumulative traffic demands. The algorithm minimizes total channel bandwidth consumption while accounting for OSNR degradation.
-
Granular Equipment Reporting: In addition to the standard Bill of Materials (BOM), the software now generates detailed node-by-node reports that provide visibility into equipment allocation at the chassis level.
-
Extended Performance Metrics: The enhanced Reporting tool delivers comprehensive performance data for every network facility, including channel power, total optical power, OSNR, and accumulated Chromatic Dispersion (CD), PMD, and PDL.
