Siemens selects Performance Technologies' embedded Ethernet switch

Aug. 27, 2001--Siemens Carrier Networks LLC has selected Performance Technologies' IPnexus line of embedded Ethernet switches for use within Siemens' SURPASS hiQ softswitch.

Performance Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTIX), announced that Siemens Carrier Networks LLC, a subsidiary of Siemens AG (NYSE: SI) and a provider in carrier-grade switching, has selected Performance Technologies' IPnexus line of embedded Ethernet switches for use within Siemens' SURPASS hiQ softswitch.

SURPASS hiQ is a carrier-grade, high-performance platform offering multimedia advantages for next-generation, packet-oriented networks combined with the complete voice intelligence and reliability of traditional networks. Performance Technologies is the primary supplier of embedded Ethernet switches for the SURPASS hiQ platform.

The architecture of the IPnexus Ethernet switch improves the throughput performance, scalability and reliability of data traffic within a standard CompactPCI chassis or an embedded Ethernet network. The switch's CompactPCI/Packet Switching backplane architecture was developed by Performance Technologies and is currently being standardized by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) 2.16 subcommittee.
