Bouygues Telecom installs Ciena’s CN 4200 for mobile and fixed-line services
AUGUST 24, 2010 -- Ciena Corp. (NASDAQ: CIEN) says that Bouygues Telecom, part of the Bouygues group, deployed Ciena’s CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform across France to expand the operator’s broadband DSL aggregation and transport network as well as increase capacity to support rising volumes of mobile traffic.
Bouygues Telecom is one of the top three mobile operators in France. In addition to its 3G mobile network, which covers more than 80 percent of the French population with a high-speed mobile Ciena’s CN 4200 now provides a packet-optical transport infrastructure to support these services.
The CN 4200 enables Bouygues Telecom to cost-effectively support new voice, video, and data services for both its business and consumer customers, Ciena says. In addition, the CN 4200’s dynamic optical programmability – driven by its FlexiPort technology – supports the operator’s future service and capacity needs by providing the ability to easily scale and reconfigure the transport network on demand in direct response to the evolving needs of its customers, the system house adds.
