Zayo launches final phase of Central Florida fiber network expansion in Florida

Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. says it has begun the final phase of a fiber network expansion project in Central Florida. The 2,600-route-mile fiber-optic network deployment will run through Miami, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Bradenton, Lakeland, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Palm Bay and the surrounding areas.The work is part of a project announced in 2019 (see "Zayo to extend fiber-optic network in central Florida").

The underground fiber network extension will enable Zayo to offer a backbone to serve anchor clients as well as carriers, enterprises, and data centers. The company says it expects an increase in demand for its services in the region, citing a study by Florida Chamber Foundation that reports significant growth in such industries in the state as aerospace and aviation; health care and life sciences; manufacturing; logistics and distribution; and financial and professional services. Zayo will offer such current and potential customers dark fiber, private dedicated networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, IP VPN, internet, SD-WAN, and its Cloudlink services. Zayo asserts it is one of a few providers offering dark fiber in Florida and the only one that offers private dedicated networks.
