Windstream Wholesale links to SAm-1 submarine cable system
Windstream Wholesale says it connected its core fiber network to the Telxius cable landing station in Boca Raton, FL. The cable landing station is the terminal station for the South America-1 (SAm-1) submarine cable system, which Telxius owns.
The 25,000-km SAm-1 fiber-optic submarine cable ring is the fifth longest submarine network in the world. It features fiber route extensions to Ecuador, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, as well as trans-Andean and trans-Guatemalan terrestrial backbone fiber networks. It also interconnects the American coasts of the Caribbean, the Atlantic and the Pacific. Boca Raton is its northernmost landing point.
The connection with SAm-1 in Boca Raton complements Windstream Wholesale’s existing connections to Telxius’s landing stations in Jacksonville and Virginia Beach, FL. These two stations serve as the landing points to the Dunant and MAREA submarine cable systems, respectively.
