Optical transport systems specialist Ekinops (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI) says it has supplied systems to Orange Ivory Coast to enable deployment of 100-Gbps capabilities on its fiber-optic network.
The deployments follow what Ekinops describes as "intensive field tests" of the systems, which enable an increase in wavelength capacity from 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps. The additional capacity will enable Orange Ivory Coast to keep up with growing data traffic demands, as well as provide other benefits, according to an Ekinops spokesman.
"This strategic collaboration will not only give Orange Ivory Coast increased flexibility by massively increasing the bandwidth of its national network, it will also serve its cross-border requirements with neighboring countries, a major challenge across West Africa," explained Xavier Billy, vice-president of strategic accounts at Ekinops.
The systems also interoperate with the service provider's existing infrastructure, Ekinops adds.
