Oct. 17, 2001--Fast-Chip, Incorporated, a fabless semiconductor company dedicated to high-performance communications ICs, announced iMPLS, an OC-192 MPLS development platform.

Fast-Chip, Incorporated, a fabless semiconductor company dedicated to high-performance communications ICs, announced iMPLS, an OC-192 MPLS development platform. Featuring Fast-Chip's PolicyEdge network classification processor and IP Infusion's ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite, the iMPLS platform is a complete hardware and software reference for the design of MPLS-enabled products. These include label edge/switch routers, multi-service provisioning platforms, fast-firewalls and VPNs.

PolicyEdge is an OC-192 network classification processor that offloads classification and statistics collection from network processors or ASICs, to provide higher performance and upgrade flexibility. The iMPLS platform also includes silicon solutions from other vendors including Marvell's GT64240 system controller, PMC-Sierra's RM7000A control-plane processor, and Applied Micro Circuits' Ganges framer. Extensive software tools are provided including a C-simulator, ACL translation application, and a packet generator, all running under VxWorks, Solaris, or Linux.

Complete MPLS support is provided though a combination of IP Infusion's advanced routing suite and Fast-Chip's MPLS sample application. The Server Routing Suite enables route table management, route conversion and redistribution services. It provides a complete protocol stack together with the ability to dynamically update MPLS labels via RSVP-TE or LDP.

The iMPLS development platform will be available to customers in November. Price for iMPLS is $40,000. The ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite is available from IP Infusion.

Fast-Chip will be demonstrating the iMPLS development platform at the Network Processor Conference, Parkside Hall, San Jose, October 23-25, and at the NGN Exhibition, Boston Marriott Copley Place, Boston, Nov. 5-9.
