SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. (Enablence), a supplier of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment for triple-play residential and business services and optical components and subsystems for access, metro, and long-haul markets, is unveiling two new component products at the 36th European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC). The industry event is taking place from Sept. 19 through 23 in Turin, Italy.

Enablence will be exhibiting and showcasing at ECOC the latest additions to its portfolio of innovative PLC-based optical components at Booth #242. Among them are:
The APD32T-XS topside illuminated avalanche photodiode (APD), optimized for single-mode 10 Gb/s SONET/SDH and 10G PON applications, features a dual pad layout and an optical aperture of 32 um, as well as a small footprint that saves space in small packages, such as TO-46.
A key feature of the APD is low excess noise, enabling receiver sensitivities of -27 dBm for 10 Gb/s Non Return Zero signals when used with an appropriate TIA. Compared to other APDs available, the APD32T-XS also is differentiated by:
• Its availability as bare die
• A large aperture for easy optical coupling
• High temperature stability – temperature control is not mandatory
• Relatively low operating bias – only 25 V vs. 40 V or higher for other APDs
The iMS 0808 multicast switch helps to make ROADM nodes with directionless, colorless, and contentionless features, providing network operators with the ultimate flexibility for network planning and remote management of bandwidth to ensure superior service reliability and to reduce operating costs.
The 0808 features eight input and eight output ports, designed for next-generation ROADMs with up to eight degrees, expected to be commonly used on 40G and 100G networks. The signal to any of the input ports can be directed to any one or any combinations of output ports. The routing of this switch module can be controlled through a standard RS232 or I2C interface. Given varying requirements, this product is only available as a custom product meeting specific customer requirements.
The 0808 is available in single and dual-switch module versions. The dual switch version offers DROP and ADD functions in a single package.
