VI Systems GmbH has announced the D50-1300M fiber-coupled photodetector module for use in test setups of in-development advanced short-reach optical interconnects. The module will support data rates of up to 50 Gbps in both non-return-to-zero (NRZ) and pulsed amplitude modulation (PAM) formats.

The photodetector module will accommodate input wavelengths ranging from 840 nm to 1550 nm. The module features a V-connector for the electrical output signal; for the optical input, a 50/125-nm multimode fiber is terminated with a standard FC/PC connector.

The module's footprint is 62.5 x 16.7 mm. The height is specified as 8 mm. The fiber cable length is typically 1 m.
