Zayo adds more than 5000 route miles with Intelligent Fiber Network acquisition

The addition of IFN’s assets increases Zayo’s infrastructure in Indiana to more than 7500 route miles with on-net connectivity to more than 2,000 buildings, data centers, and cell sites.

Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. says it has closed its previously announced acquisition of Indiana Fiber Network, LLC d/b/a Intelligent Fiber Network (IFN). The deal adds more than 5000 route miles of fiber to Zayo’s footprint in Indiana and provides on-net connectivity to nearly 1000 enterprise buildings in cities including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Columbus, Terre Haute, and South Bend. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The addition of IFN’s assets increases Zayo’s infrastructure in the state to more than 7500 route miles with on-net connectivity to more than 2,000 buildings, data centers, and cell sites. Operations at IFN’s headquarters in Indianapolis will continue.

“IFN brings to Zayo a high-quality network, a strong team and a sharp focus on delivering exceptional service to its customer base,” said Matt Steinfort, CFO at Zayo. “Together, we have the opportunity to leverage our combined and complementary assets to achieve regional scale and drive growth.”

The IFN buy is Zayo’s 46th in its history and its first under a private ownership consortium led by EQT Partners and Digital Colony Partners (see “Digital Colony, EQT to buy fiber-optic network services supplier Zayo”). This is at least the company’s second acquisition in Indiana, following the 2007 purchase of Indiana Fiber Works (see “Zayo Bandwidth acquires Indiana Fiber Works”).
