MicroCare launches new Sticklers Fiber Optic Cleaner kits for servicing FTTA and FTTH

MicroCare Corp. says it has launched two new Sticklers fiber-optic cleaner kits to address industry need for tools that ensure completely clean fiber. The two kits address fiber to the antenna (FTTA) and fiber to the home (FTTH), respectively.

FTTA technicians need the proper tools for achieving clean fiber and for preventing contamination from degrading an FTTA network, MicroCare points out. Both sides of every end-face must be cleaned each time they are installed, tested, or reconfigured, both at base level and on the tower’s top. FTTH applications also require that fiber remain contaminant-free to avoid critical impact on the network’s long-term reliability.

The Sticklers kits are designed to include every tool necessary for optical network performance upgrades with installer-grade, high-quality cleaning products. The FTTA cleaning kit is intended to clean 1.25-mm ODC and LC connectors. It contains fiber-optic cleaning fluid for quick wet-dry cleaning, a box of 1.25-mm and 50 Pin Termini CleanStixx fiber-optic cleaning swabs, and 1.25 CleanClicker 400 mini-clicker for quick port and jumper cleaning in a small package. The Cassette CleanClicker Wheel offers an alternative to CLETOPS tools and Clean Wipes 640 Optical Wipes for cleaning over 600 duplex end faces.

The Sticklers FTTH cleaning kit cleans SC, FC, ST, and E2000 connectors, as well as “the most contaminated ports,” says MicroCare. The 2.5-mm CleanClicker push-to-clean tool cleans mildly contaminated ports and jumpers, and the Cassette CleanClicker Wheel cleaner and Clean Wipes 640 optical wipes are both for jumper cleaning.

“The FTTA kit contains enough materials to clean more than 1,500 FTTA connectors. The FTTH kit cleans over 1,800 connectors. This, however, is not the only benefit,” asserts Brian Teague, Sticklers Fiber Optic Cleaners product manager. “Each kit includes nonflammable, nontoxic, and globally GHS compliant cleaning fluid packaged in a hermetically sealed container. This means the kit can be shipped anywhere in the world, by ground, air or sea, without restrictions.”

This announcement follows MicroCare’s expansion nearly one year ago of its Sticklers fiber-optic cleaning line with the addition of its CleanWipes 640 optical-grade cleaning wipes to clean fiber optic connector end-faces, as well as bare fiber prior to fusion splicing (see “MicroCare expands Sticklers fiber-optic cleaning line with CleanWipes 640”).
