Vast Broadband to rely on ADTRAN Mosaic Subscriber Insight for network visibility

Sept. 28, 2020
Use of Mosaic Subscriber Insight will enable Vast Broadband to better assess network performance, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and build customer loyalty, ADTRAN asserts.

Vast Broadband, which supplies triple-play broadband services to residential and business customers in South Dakota, Minnesota, Texas, and Louisiana, will use ADTRAN’s (NASDAQ:ADTN) Mosaic Subscriber Insight to gather intelligence from its access networks, the technology provider says. The intelligence will enable Vast Broadband to better assess network performance, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and build customer loyalty, ADTRAN asserts.

Vast Broadband serves more than 61,000 residential and business customers in South Dakota and Minnesota under its own brand. It also operates Vexus Fiber (formerly NTS), which serves customers in Texas and Louisiana via a fiber network that passes more than 70,000 homes and businesses (see "Vast Broadband buys NTS with help from new funding"). Vast Broadband uses ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 (TA5000) fiber access platform on its fiber to the home (FTTH) infrastructure. The service provider hopes to roll out Mosaic Subscriber Insight to cover 300,000 residential customers within the next two years.

Mosaic Subscriber Insight combines subscriber, network, and billing data; it can report on revenue leakage, mismatched speeds, usage patterns featuring heat maps, bandwidth utilization, and broadband service stats. The service provider has begun using Mosaic Subscriber Insight already. Vast Broadband is using the platform to make recommendations to customers based on usage patterns. For example, some customers were using more bandwidth than others, and Vast Broadband was able to suggest adjustments to each customer to ensure they receive the level of service for which they subscribed.

“ADTRAN continues to provide us with best practices for our FTTH deployment. This ongoing relationship made Mosaic Subscriber Insight the perfect choice,” said Larry Eby, executive vice president and COO at Vast Broadband. “In our effort to provide the best broadband experience for our subscribers, ADTRAN allows us to assess the access network and obtain customer information within seconds; therefore making better network decisions and becoming more confident that we are protecting our business and our customers’ quality of service.”
