OCTOBER 19, 2006 -- Valpey Fisher Corp. (search Valpey Fisher) has unveiled its VFFT110 series Quad Output Frequency Translator, which accepts an input frequency up to 800 MHz and provides an output frequency to 1.5 GHz. The device operates over a -40 ° C to +85 ° C temperature range. Applications include OC-192/OC-48 optical networks, SONET, SDH, ATM, and DSLAMs.

"The VFFT110 Series allows the user to select one of four input and output frequencies up to 1.5 GHz, making the module ideally suited for frequency translation from one FEC frequency to another," explains Walt Oliwa, vice president of R&D at Valpey Fisher. "With an input of 622.080 MHz and an output of 669.326 MHz, the output jitter over a bandwidth of 50 KHz to 80 MHz is less than 0.250 psec," he reports.

The VFFT110 series includes an on-board regulator for improved power supply rejection ratio. No external filter components are required. Packaged in a 17- x 19.5-mm SMT module, the VFFT110 eliminates the need for four VCSOs and the cumbersome PLL circuitry required to implement a similar design, claim company representatives.
