Hetzner Online deploys Infinera’s XTS-3300 to extend data center network into Finland
Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) said that Hetzner Online has deployed its XTS-3300 to expand the German operator's data center network into Finland. A new subsea optical networkpowered by the XTS-3300 will link the web hosting and data center operator's current metro terrestrial networks where the Infinera XTM-Series is deployed in both countries.
Infinera upgraded the XTM series platforms it acquired with optical transport systems vendor Transmode in 2017 (see "Infinera XTM II upgrades target evolving metro edge networks").
According to Infinera, its compact XTS-3300 is a high-performance submarine network meshponder designed to enable internet content providers (ICPs) rapid deployment of low-latencysubsea networks. Hetzner Online can activate capacity on-demand with the XTS-3300 and Infinera Instant Bandwidth. To accelerate time-to-revenue, and reduce total cost of ownership, Hetzner Online can pay for capacity as it is activated.
In 2016, Hetzner Online built a new data center park in Finland, leveraging the connectivity of the C-Lion1 submarine network, which connects Germany and Finland, for a secure and fast connection from its data centers to the Nordic countries (see "Cinia completes C-Lion1 submarine network, selects optical transport supplier"). Hetzner Online owns multiple German data centers, and has extended its network to meet Eastern European and Russian customers' demands, says Infinera.
