LYNX Technik unveils yellobrik 10G Ethernet fiber transceivers and converters

The devices convert fiber to copper Ethernet, copper to fiber, fiber to fiber (multimode single-mode), or extend electrical Ethernet signals over a bi-directional fiber, all at rates up to 10 Gbps.

LYNX Technik says it now offers seven new fiber yellobriks fiber converters and transceivers. The devices convert fiber to copper Ethernet, copper to fiber, fiber to fiber (multimode <> single-mode), or extend electrical Ethernet signals over a bi-directional fiber, all at rates up to 10 Gbps.

The units enable the extension of 10-Gbps Ethernet transmission via optical fiber to distances up to 20 km. The family enables the connection of copper links with single-mode and multimode fiber to meet a range of requirements. The devices are hot swappable and hot pluggable, with instructions and indicators printed directly on the units. The approach enables ease of use, easy setup, and quick troubleshooting, according to LYNX Technik.

The new yellobriks include:

  • The OET 1910 models, which offer fiber-to-copper as well as copper-to-fiber conversion and include two 10-Gbps ports per module with a maximum throughput of 20 Gbps in full-duplex mode.
  • The OBD 1910 models that provide a 10-Gps Ethernet extension over a bi-directional single fiber. They also feature two ports per module with a maximum throughput of 20 Gbps in full-duplex mode.
  • The OET 1940 models, multi-functional devices that provide fiber-to-copper, copper-to-fiber, and fiber-to-fiber conversion. They also support CWDM fiber transmission for the full 18 wavelengths of coverage.
  • SFP fiber transceiver modules are available as add-ons depending on the application and the distance of transmission required, the company adds.

All of the modules can be used as standalone units or mounted onto 19-inch yellobrik rack trays to build a larger conversion system. Optional fiber adapter kits for adding ST or SC fiber connections on the yellobriks are available as well.
