Kosc Telecom said it has introduced what the company attests is the first wholesale fiber-optic services dedicated to businesses available in France. Currently, Best Effort Fibre delivers bandwidth up to 1 Gbps download and 250 Mbps upload, says Kosc. The MEF standards-compliant E-Access Fibre, available by the end of July, will also assure guaranteed symmetrical bandwidth and offer local access services to international carriers requiring connectivity in France.
Additionally, Kosc has unveileda connectivity as a service (CaaS) model with an e-portal available through web services (Extranet and APIs) that provides customers with control over their back-office administration. Available on all of Kosc's broadband and fiber services, customers can check service eligibility; receive an offer; place, follow, and make modifications to orders; launch service diagnosis; and have access to Kosc customer service in a single user interface.
With over 180 cities now linked, including Paris, Marseille, and several smaller cities such as La Rochelle and Annecy, Kosc's broadband and fiber-optic infrastructure covers more than 20,000 km and all of mainland France. Kosc's coverage includes 7.6 million fiber plugs, which make up 80% of all the nation's available plugs.
Kosc adds that it has made what it termed "substantial investments" in its infrastructure. Deployment of the ADVA FSP 3000, which supports 16-Tbps fiber capacity, was the first such investment (see "KOSC Telecom taps ADVA for French nationwide 100-Gbps fiber optic network"). Kosc then deployed the Nokia MEF certified 7750 SR Routers to collect, aggregate, and transport its Ethernet services with up to 100-Gbps connectivity.
Last August, Kosc entered into a long-term investment agreement with service provider Orange for fiber connectivity (see "Kosc reaches long-term agreement with Orange for fiber connectivity").
"As a driver on the wholesale telecom market, our ambition is to pave the way for fibre migration for business premises located in France," said Antoine Fournier, Kosc Telecom CEO.
