The company plans to leverage its Rosenberger Site Solutions (RSS) affiliate in Lake Charles, LA, which will see its activities broaden beyond its current focus on the fiber to the antenna (FTTA) sector.

Germany-based fiber connectivity supplier Rosenberger Optical Solutions & Infrastructure (Rosenberger OSI) reveals that it will expand its focus in North America to include data center network requirements. The company plans to leverage its Rosenberger Site Solutions (RSS) affiliate in Lake Charles, LA, which will see its activities broaden beyond its current focus on the fiber to the antenna (FTTA) sector. Andy Shields has been named vice president of Data Center Solutions to lead the new initiative.

Rosenberger OSI’s history in the data center cabling market began in 1991 and progressed since then with a focus on MTP technology and parallel optics. Its PreCONNECT SEDECIM cabling system, introduced last year, is a recent example of the company’s work and leverages the 16-fiber MTP/MPO connector. The company touts products based on this connector as leading the evolution toward 400 Gigabit Ethernet data center networking. PreCONNECT SEDECIM earned a Gold award from Lightwave sister site Cabling Installation & Maintenance in their equivalent to the Lightwave Innovation Reviews.

Rosenberger OSI’s expects its expansion into the North American data center networks market, which will leverage its production facilities in Hungary and Mexico, to build on the company’s success in Europe. “Rosenberger OSI has been a leader in the data center market in Europe for more than 30 years, and this expansion is the next logical step in meeting the needs of our global customers,” said Thomas Schmidt, managing director of Rosenberger OSI. “We feel vindicated not only by our awards, but also by our regular customer surveys, which confirm a consistent 99% satisfaction rate. Our expansion efforts are based on these positive results and encourage us to continue expanding our network globally.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Shields most recently served as vice president, global strategic business at DataCentreSpeak Consultants Ltd. His career includes stops at Panduit, Cyxtera Technologies, CenturyLink, Equinix, Level 3 Communications, and Digital Realty, among other companies.
