Coherent: AOwave-Multi-Channel Analog Optical Modules

Feb. 26, 2025
Coherent’s AOwave AO-xCAO4x series of multi-channel optical modules support next-generation analog links using optical communications.

Coherent’s AOwave AO-xCAO4x series of multi-channel optical modules support next-generation analog links using optical communication and target terrestrial and space applications. AOwave helps upgrade to Ka-band in radio frequency over fiber (RFoF) systems while offering increased link lengths up to several kilometers. The extremely lightweight modules using ribbon fiber minimize the size of the optical interface and significantly ease the routing in high channel count RFoF and radar systems in comparison, i.e., to cables. The electromagnetic interference (EMI) robust solution helps to reduce the weight of satellites and enables higher data throughput in both LEO and GEO satellites. The cooled version supports an extended industrial temperature range and targets terrestrial markets.
JUDGE'S COMMENT: "This is one of the first offerings of RF over fiber interconnect solutions."
